John,
Good afternoon, and welcome to our Weekend Update.
Before recounting this week's political events, I want to extend my prayers and best wishes to the people of Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Virginia. Hurricanes Helene and Milton left a path of destruction, causing hundreds of fatalities and billions in property loss. The images and stories of the suffering and loss caused by these storms have been heartbreaking.
Thankfully, states led by strong Republican governors are doing their jobs in leading clean-up and rescue efforts after these horrific stormsUnfortunately, North Carolinians are suffering from a ton of damage and an uncoordinated response from the federal and state governments. FEMA has done a terrible job responding to the storms, and that blame lies with Biden and Harris.
FEMA has only distributed 1% of the over $20 billion Congress provided just weeks ago for disaster relief. Biden and Harris should do their job and urgently get the resources out to people and support teams in need rather than complaining about the fact they are being criticized and questioned for their inaction.
Rather than complain, Harris should start doing her job and stop blaming others for her failures… as if “Day One” will be any different. With Kamala, it's always talk, constantly delayed, eventually weak action. By the way, <>we don’t hear Governor DeSantis complaining about criticism because the people affected are seeing a strong response and progress in Florida. Governor DeSantis is about action, not talk...the opposite of Harris, Biden, and all of the big-government, slow-moving do-nothings in our federal government under this administration. Unfortunately, the mainstream media continues to carry Biden-Harris' polluted water.
This leads us to what this election is really about: STRENGTH vs. WEAKNESS. While President Donald J. Trump is promoting an America First policy agenda, Kamala Harris’ America Last policy is in full swing. Billions are being sent overseas, including $157 million pledged to the terror group Hezbollah, even as they attack our ally Israel and Americans. Yet the Biden-Harris admin only offers $750 to the families who lost everything… their homes, properties, possessions, and, in many cases, their loved ones. Kamala is so out of touch and dangerously liberal. America cannot have a President who puts America Last in their heart, head, speech, and actions — as Kamala so often does.
This week, the news coverage of Kamala Harris has been consistently biased and also telling at the same time. First, Kamala Harris did a taped interview on CBS's "60 Minutes." When asked a question about Israel and its mission to destroy the terrorist organization Hamas, the raw footage of the interview showed that she gave the American public her typical word-salad nonanswer. But as the biased mainstream media typically does, they allowed her to totally change her answer! The fraud committed by "60 Minutes" and CBS, together with the Democrat Party, is perhaps the single Biggest Scandal in Broadcast History! And it happens every day to manipulate the people. When asked on The View if she’d do anything different from President Biden, Kamala Harris responded, “There is not a thing that comes to mind.” So, she’d continue the same policies that caused inflation to skyrocket, gas prices to soar, millions to cross our border illegally, and chaos to unfold around the world. A Harris-Walz presidency means more of the same. Click here <[link removed]> or below to watch a Trump video highlighting Kamala's double down on the failure of the Harris-Biden administration.

But blue-collar voters can’t afford four more years like this. In Pennsylvania, working-class families know life was better under President Trump. They remember lower gas prices, lower taxes, and affordable groceries. That’s why they’re rallying around Trump, which will propel him to victory in November. I joined "Mornings with Maria" on Fox Business to discuss the Trump rallies in Pennsylvania this week and how Pennsylvania can't afford four more years of the Biden-Harris agenda. I attended President Trump's rally in Reading on Wednesday. He spoke to an arena full of patriotic Pennsylvanians ready to take America back. I had the chance to address the audience. Click here <[link removed]> or below to watch.
<[link removed]>
At the rally, I spoke to Newsmax about how the Latino community in Reading, and all across the country, is feeling the impact of high grocery bills, gas prices, and the chaos of open borders. They want a strong economy, secure borders, energy dominance, and a government that supports the police and national security. Latino Americans see a better future in the plans that Donald Trump is offering based on his record of success.
Pennsylvania is key to taking back the White House, and the enthusiasm for President Trump is growing every day. In 26 days, we will Make America Great Again! Click here <[link removed]> or below to watch my interview.

The Republican Party has made great strides in voter registration across Pennsylvania. Over the past few years, the GOP has worked hard to close the gap with the Democratic Party. Luzerne County, once a Democratic stronghold, has now flipped to the GOP, showing the growing enthusiasm and support for Republicans throughout our Commonwealth. This success wouldn’t be possible without the dedicated people working to highlight why electing Republicans up and down the ballot is essential to correcting course for our country. I joined Newsmax’s “Wake Up America” to discuss. Click here <[link removed]> or below to watch.

Check out my interview on the Dawn Stensland Show on Talk Radio WPHT Philadelphia, where we discussed Pennsylvania's pivotal role in the upcoming presidential election, the importance of President Trump’s pro-growth initiatives, the Butler rally, and more. <[link removed]>
I was happy to be joined by my good friend, Speaker Mike Johnson, on the Bob Cordaro Show on WILK. We discussed our efforts to turn Pennsylvania red, grow the House Majority, flip the Senate, and take back the White House. We have 22 days to GET OUT THE VOTE, elect Donald Trump, and Make America Great again! Click here <[link removed]> or below to listen.

One of the most significant issues facing Americans is the Biden-Harris crisis at our southern border. The Democrats have attempted to incredulously deflect blame to President Trump and Republicans for the disaster they created. They claim that Republicans derailed their immigration bill. But they don't talk about what was really in their bill. The Democrats’ immigration bill, which Kamala Harris supports, was awful for many reasons:
- It would have codified into law that no emergency actions could be taken until an average of 5,000 illegal immigrants were streaming across our border a day. The bill would handcuff President Trump, and rather than being able to take immediate action to stop illegal immigration, he would have to wait for Congress to pass a separate bill to reverse this policy.
- The bill called for $7.1 billion to improve processing and resettlement operations. That’s like buying more buckets rather than trying to stop the flood. The Democrats’ bill would provide billions to facilitate illegal immigrants, not stop them.
- The bill failed to reimplement Remain in Mexico, which was so successful under Trump. Without Remain in Mexico, millions of illegal immigrants, who are coached on what to say by the cartels, would continue to falsely claim asylum, be given bus tickets, and be released into our country. That’s not how our immigration system is set up to operate, despite it being what the Democrats want.
Every Republican wants to stop the flow of illegal immigrants, drugs, and human trafficking, but this bill didn’t do that. If it did, Republicans would have, and I would have, voted for it. When elected, President Trump will secure the border as he did while he was in office, utilizing the President’s constitutional executive authority to do so.
IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA: Kamala’s price hike continues on hardworking American families.
New inflation data <[link removed]> shows prices are STILL rising. Overall, prices have increased 20.5% <[link removed]> since Kamala took office, with electricity up 31.3% <[link removed]>, rent up 22.9% <[link removed]>, and groceries up 22.1% <[link removed]>.
The price hikes will continue until morale improves — when Kamala is relegated from office once and for all.
This week's new Consumer Price Index <[link removed]>, the final inflation report before the election, shows that year-over-year prices increased <[link removed]> by 2.4% in September—far higher than the 1.4% inflation rate when President Trump left office and the 43rd straight month where inflation has remained above the Fed’s target rate.
Under Kamala, inflation has averaged 5.2% <[link removed]> — almost three times the average inflation rate under President Trump.
Meanwhile, real average weekly earnings have been down 3.4% <[link removed]> since Kamala took office; they have increased 8.2% <[link removed]> under President Trump. Real wages remain lower <[link removed]> than when Harris and Biden first took office.
Kamala, whose policies <[link removed]>sent <[link removed]>prices <[link removed]>soaring <[link removed]> in the first place, will drive them even higher. There's not a thing <[link removed]> she would do differently than Biden, and it shows as she doubles down on the inflationary Harris-Biden agenda with the largest <[link removed]>tax hike <[link removed]> in history, a Soviet-style price control scheme <[link removed]>, and a housing plan <[link removed]> that will only drive home prices higher <[link removed]>.
After almost four years of Kamala-induced price hikes, relief will be on the way when President Donald J. Trump is re-elected, and prosperity will be unleashed once again.
Tuesday marked the solemn one-year anniversary of Hamas' barbaric attack on Israel, which claimed the lives of 1,200 innocent people. This unprovoked act of terror reminds us of the ongoing threats Israel faces on many fronts, and we continue to stand in unwavering solidarity with our closest ally in the Middle East.
Israel has every right to defend itself, and the United States must fully support their efforts to eliminate Hamas, Hezbollah, and other Iranian-backed proxies, all menaces to the region. The release of hostages remains a top priority, and the world should recognize the incredible courage and resilience of the Israeli people.
As we reflect on this tragedy, we also have to redouble our efforts to combat the rise of anti-Semitism around the world. Hatred and violence against the Jewish people have no place in any society, and we need to work together to put an end to these dangerous ideologies.
Our prayers remain with the victims and their families. The United States will always stand with Israel, and we must continue to ensure that such acts of terror are never repeated.
On the campaign trail:
On Monday, Shelley and I attended the 40th annual Pennsylvania Chamber Dinner in Hershey, where I was joined by business leaders from across Pennsylvania's 9th District.
Pennsylvania Chamber President Luke Bernstein is doing a tremendous job. I want to thank Luke and the Chamber for the invitation and for all you do to support Main Street America. (Shelley and I pictured below with former Governor Tom Corbett, former Lt. Governor Jim Cawley, State Representative Ed Neilson, and State Representative Thomas Kutz)
(Shelley and I are pictured below with former State Rep. Mike Tobash, Schuylkill County Chamber President & CEO Bob Carl, and State Rep. Jamie Barton)
On Thursday, I was pleased to join my colleague, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, for an event in support of my good friend and candidate in the 8th Congressional District, Rob Bresnahan.
Later, I traveled with Speaker Johnson to our next event, which was a packed house in the Lehigh Valley. A large crowd gathered in support of Ryan Mackenzie, our great Republican candidate in the 7th Congressional District.
Yesterday, I was in beautiful Susquehanna County for their Fall Rally. Thank you to chairwoman Donna Cosmello for inviting me to such a great event.
I attended a breakfast event for Dave McCormick this morning featuring Dina McCormick. The event honored women political leaders throughout Northeast Pennsylvania. In addition to Dina, Senator Lisa Baker, Senator Rosemary Brown, and I addressed a large and enthusiastic crowd. Dave McCormick's campaign is running very strong and is on a winning track.

If you are ready to vote, do it NOW!Swamp the Vote! In Pennsylvania,
I voted on Friday afternoon at the Luzerne County Bureau of Elections. The process was good. I want to commend Controller Walter Griffith for being there to monitor, assist, and help people understand the process to ensure it is done right. Thank you, Walter. The process itself could use some tweaks, but I was in and out in about 30 minutes, which they said was the average length of time the process typically takes. There were 3 or 4 others voting at the same time, and I <>was told earlier in the day there were about 12 to 14 at a time, and it took quite a bit longer. So, I would certainly recommend added resources for the bureaus during what are determined to be peak hours. I was also impressed that I was asked if I had requested a mail-in ballot, and I thought I hadn’t, but last year, I must have checked on the ballot request form to continue sending me a ballot. They detected this and informed me that a mail-in ballot was being processed and sent to my residence, which they then canceled. That’s a sign that the process is working, and that probably added a few minutes to my time in the office.
In-person, early voting is underway. The Luzerne County experience, as stated, was good. I intended to vote early and review the process, which I did. It works relatively efficiently, and if you want to vote early, as I did, it’s available and accessible. If you vote early at your Bureau of Elections, bring a valid government ID (i.e., a driver’s license). I needed one in Luzerne County. October 29 is the last day you can vote early. Please find the hours each county election bureau is open below:
- Luzerne County: 9am-4pm
- Schuylkill County: 8:30am-4:30pm
- Wyoming County: 8:30am-4pm
- Susquehanna County: 8:30am-4:30pm
- Bradford County: 9am-4:30pm
- Lebanon County: 8:30am-4:30pm
- Berks County: 8am-5pm
- Columbia County: 8am-4:30pm
- Montour County: 9am-4:30pm
- Northumberland County: 9am-4:30pm
- Sullivan County: 9am-4:30pm
- Lycoming County: 8:30am-5pm
It is also time to request your mail-in and absentee ballots. Click here <[link removed]> or below to get more information.
