Gov. Hogan clearly laid out his vision for Maryland and America–one that contrasted sharply with Angela Alsobrooks’ partisan plans.
He stood up for ALL Marylanders, while she made it clear that she will fall in line with her party every step of the way in the Senate.
If you have a minute today, please read Gov. Hogan’s earlier message and consider chipping in a donation of any amount you can afford to support him right now.
I just finished my first debate against Angela Alsobrooks, and I want you to know what I had to say.
If you watched tonight, you probably heard a lot of lies and partisan attacks coming from my opponent. But you also heard me cut through the noise to make sure you got the truth about my record and my vision for our state.
John, like I said tonight, I’m not running for Senate to defeat my opponent. This isn’t about red versus blue or Republicans versus Democrats.
I’m running because I’ve never been more concerned about the direction of our country. And, I’m running because it’s time we put people over politics and country over party.
Our country is being torn apart by both sides. But the only way we can make a difference and put an end to this divisive partisanship is if we send a strong independent leader to Washington.
I know I can't do this alone. I need your help to get this done.
Right now, Marylanders across the state have already begun casting their ballots. Polls show our race is tied in a dead heat. I know that every voter we are able to reach in this final stretch will make the difference in the outcome of this election.
So if you like what I had to say—if you are ready to send a strong, independent leadership to Washington—then I’m asking you to chip in today.
When I launched my campaign for the U.S. Senate, I did so with a deep resolve to maintain the leadership style and principles that guided me during my eight years as governor.
Fifty years ago, my father, Maryland Congressman Larry Hogan Sr. made a tough decision. He became the first Republican to come out for the impeachment of President Nixon. He put aside party politics and his own personal considerations and stepped up to do the right thing for Maryland and the nation.
Today, Washington is completely broken because that kind of leadership and willingness to put country over party has become far too rare. But it’s not in my nature to sit back and watch the dysfunction continue without doing what I can to roll up my sleeves and get to work.
I’m under no illusion this will be an easy road. But I’m no stranger to uphill battles, and I know I can’t do it without your support.
I don't aspire to be a United States senator. I don’t need a title and I don’t need a job, but I’m more concerned than ever about the direction of the country and I have become more convinced that I can make a difference by taking the approach and style of leadership I had during my eight years as governor to Washington.
It’s no surprise this mindset has made me a target of the Washington partisans. Despite early polls showing a lead, I know I’m the underdog in this race. And that’s why your support TODAY is so crucial.
For eight years, we proved that the toxic politics that divide our nation didn’t need to divide our state, and we got results! Let’s get back to work again and send a message to Washington that will be heard loud and clear across the country!
