Yet another extreme attempt to alter the Wisconsin Constitution
Vote NO again on Nov. 5

John,
Have you heard about the latest attempt by extreme Republicans to alter our state constitution?

On Nov. 5, voters will AGAIN see a constitutional amendment question on their ballot. This time it aims to divide Wisconsinites by pitting us against our neighbors in an attempt to diminish our freedom to vote.

The proposed question is meant to erode our voting rights by changing the language of our state constitution related to voter eligibility from “every” citizen to “only” citizens.

Sound insignificant? It is NOT.

No matter where we were born or what language we speak, all eligible Wisconsin voters are afforded the right to cast a ballot and make their voice heard. Wisconsin already has safe and secure elections with safeguards in place to ensure only eligible voters are voting. This amendment is a way for extremists to create a problem out of thin air, that does NOT exist , and then use fear as a tactic to further divide us . It could also open the door to a more complicated registration process and discriminatory practices that will make it harder for everyone to vote.

This just keeps happening. With new fair maps, the far right, extremist-led legislature understands its unpopular policies, its out-of-touch issues, its destructive partisanship – and its reliance on a gerrymander to save its members from actually working – are in decline.

This is the fifth confusing constitutional amendment these legislators put on the ballot this year. Instead of focusing on their real work – passing laws and working with the governor – these panicked state legislators are pushing harmful sweeping changes to the state constitution. It’s desperate, it’s trickery of the most jaded sort, and it’s dangerous. Thankfully, YOU have the power to reject these divisive measures.

We know better. On Nov. 5 we can both elect a legislature that will represent us and slam the door on these harmful amendments. Vote NO!

Thanks for being a conservation voter,
