The event served as a moment of unity, remembrance, and reflection, offering a space for attendees to acknowledge the significance of this date and its lasting impact. This was one of several such events across the island. On the Anniversary, Andrew stood in solidarity with Israel and the Jewish community saying, "one year ago today, Hamas launched a brutal and unprovoked attack on Israel, murdering 1,200 innocent civilians and taking over 200 hostages - including American citizens. This horrific day was the deadliest day for the Jewish people since the Holocaust. Israel remains under constant attack each and every day. My support for Israel’s right to defend itself and its people is unwavering. I will always stand with our friend and ally in their fight against terror." ANDREW IN THE NEWS Treasury Secretary must address EU’s ‘enormous compliance burden,’ say Barr, 65 Republicans " U.S. Rep. Andy Barr (R-KY) recently led a bicameral letter with 65 of his congressional colleagues urging U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen to address what they are calling encroachment from the European Union (EU). In May, the EU formally adopted its Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), which effectively converts the U.N. Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights into binding international law, according to a Sept. 27 letter...'The CSDDD’s extraterritorial scope amounts to a serious breach of U.S. sovereignty and a direct threat to the global competitiveness of American companies,' the members wrote. 'We are deeply concerned that the administration is surrendering its regulatory responsibilities to European officials, allowing them to dictate draconian social and climate policies to American companies.' Any policies impacting U.S. businesses should be debated and determined by the elected representatives of the American people, not overseas bureaucrats advancing their own agendas, they added, urging Yellen and senior Biden administration officials to engage with their European counterparts to delay CSDDD’s implementation and repeal or substantially modify the directive. 'To date, there has been little evidence that the administration has an effective strategy to address the issue,' according to the letter, which was also signed by lawmakers who included U.S. Sens. Roger Wicker (R-MS), Jerry Moran (R-KS), Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), Steve Daines (R-MT), Mike Rounds (R-SD), and Thom Tillis (R-NC), as well as U.S. Reps. Buddy Carter (R-GA), John Curtis (R-UT), Tom Emmer (R-MN), Andrew Garbarino (R-NY), Bill Huizenga (R-MI), Young Kim (R-CA), Carol Miller (R-WV), August Pfluger (R-TX), Bryan Steil (R-WI), Glenn “GT” Thompson (R-PA), and Ann Wagner (R-MO).
