How do you save these baby parrots? For these endangered scarlet macaws, it’s a delicate process of relocating them to boost their chances of survival. Nat Geo Explorer Tim Laman shot jaw-dropping video (above) and photographs from their habitat in Mexico. Can these baby parrots make it?

At first glance, they look like birds and sunlit trees. Then you realize it’s UNDERWATER! Shane Gross snorkeled for hours through carpets of lily pads to capture these toad tadpoles. The photograph led to Gross, who has contributed to Nat Geo, being named Wildlife Photographer of the Year this week. See the winning images.

From the Amazon: Nat Geo Explorer Thomas Peschak won the Wildlife Photojournalist Story award this week for his work on the amazing river dolphins, part of our ‘Into The Amazon’ series.
