Indivisibles,
Do you remember this?
[1]Screenshot of CBS News projecting Donald Trump as the winner of the
2016 election.
This was the moment CBS called the 2016 election for Trump. Indivisible
was started in the aftermath of that loss, when a few former congressional
staffers put together a Google doc for resisting the Trump presidency.
People ran with it, thousands of local groups sprang up around the
country, and the rest is history.
So many of the people who joined Indivisible groups in those first few
weeks had never been politically active before. They wished they’d done
more in the lead up to the election to prevent Trump from becoming
president in the first place. That’s probably true for most of us -- and
it’s one of the enduring lessons from the last eight years.
As a movement that started in resistance to Trump, we know it’s easier to
beat him at the ballot box than to resist him after he’s stacked the
government with his Project 2025 appointees.
That’s why we’re working so hard to provide volunteer opportunities to
Indivisibles everywhere, so no one wakes up November 6 wishing they’d done
more.
* If you haven’t already, [ [link removed] ]check if our Neighbor2Neighbor canvassing
tool is available in your area, and sign up to knock 10 doors.
* [ [link removed] ]Next, sign up for one of our upcoming phonebanks to contact voters
in swing states and districts.
* [ [link removed] ]It’s also not too late in the cycle to find Indivisible groups in
your area who are hosting postcard writing parties and other election
events.
And if you’ve already done all that, there’s still one more thing you can
do to help defeat Trump this November:
* [ [link removed] ]Donate so we can get more people taking action between now and
Election Day. There are so many folks out there who already share our
values and beliefs. They care about democracy and reproductive rights.
They’re voting for Harris/Walz and Democrats downballot. And they
probably would take action if someone invited them to and gave them
the tools and the opportunity.
A core part of our election work is recruiting new volunteers -- and new
Indivisibles -- to take action in their communities, grow the movement,
and reach even more voters. And we’re doing it in a few different ways:
* 🏘️ We built a whole new voter contact tool -- Neighbor2Neighbor --
that isn’t just wildly effective but also makes voter contact work
more accessible and less intimidating for first-time doorknockers.
* 🖥️ We updated our website to make it even easier for folks to find the
most effective tools available in their area.
* 📲 We’re running digital recruitment and peer-to-peer texting to
recruit new volunteers in the battleground states where they’re needed
most.
* 📢 We’re hiring five new organizers to provide even more support for
the folks who do sign up to volunteer.
* 📋 We’re continuing to provide funding and resources for local
Indivisible groups across the country who are doing incredible work
not just talking to voters but also recruiting and training new
members.
But none of this work is possible without the support of our grassroots
donors. [ [link removed] ]So if you’re committed to helping us win in November, pitch in
so we can turn more voters into volunteers.
