Hi, there! I am Jourdan Hicks, community correspondent at PublicSource.
Public-service journalism exists for times like now. In the face of physical and social distancing, we realize the importance of knowing what’s changing, when it changes and why. No matter what. So in the wake of Covid-19, we will continue to do what we set out to do from the very beginning: tell stories for a better Pittsburgh.
With our new podcast series, “From the Source,” we’ve created a new way for you and others to get those stories and to hear the voices of a community we all share in.
In episode 4, we meet Brendan Kerr. He works for the Pittsburgh Food Bank. In 17 minutes, we used one Pittsburgher’s story to humanize the vast need to continue to run food banks across the state. Through the lens of his experience, we reported on the strategy, the execution and risks associated with feeding food-insecure families.
It’s what I’m most proud of as the host of “From the Source” — how we take a nationally recognized intractable problem and show just how close to home it hits.
Whether it’s with text, through video or with audio, with your support, we can continue to factually report on the topics that matter to you the most.
Today is the end of our fundraising campaign to support our COVID-19 crisis reporting. Please give now.
Thank you.
