Dear Ward 8 Residents,
I understand the unprecedented impact that COVID-19 continues to have on our residents. The Council has continued to be responsive and work collaboratively to implement legislative solutions.
This week, I am happy that some of the solutions that I suggested were included in the emergency legislation amendment such as:
1. Allowing the ban on evictions to extend for a time period after the emergency is declared over;
2. Extending and expanding foreclosure protections for home and condo owners, ensuring that tenants will be able to establish payment plans with their housing providers; and
3. Mandating that the DC Jail regularly reports on the conditions and safety of the facility to the Council.
For more information about the solutions I introduced in the COVID-19 Liability Clarification Emergency Amendment Act of 2020 and how it will be beneficial to your family and members of our city, watch the video below.
Regards,
Trayon White, Sr.
Councilmember, Ward 8
