The threats against our elections are growing more dangerous by the day. Armed protesters. Death threats against poll workers. Suspicious packages sent to election offices. This is the terrifying reality facing election officials across the country as we approach the most consequential vote of our lifetimes.
Now, a shocking new poll shows that 73% of voters are worried about political violence after the November election. Even more alarming, 81% believe our democracy itself is under threat.
We cannot allow extremists to intimidate voters or sabotage the electoral process. But many local officials simply don't have the resources to protect election workers and secure polling places against these unprecedented threats.
That's why we're calling on governors across the country to immediately allocate emergency funding to bolster election security before November. Our democracy depends on it.
Tell your governor: Protect our elections from violent extremists. Demand emergency funding for polling place security now.
In Maricopa County, Arizona – ground zero for election denialism – officials have been forced to transform their vote counting center into a literal fortress. Bullet-proof glass. Multiple layers of fencing. Rooftop snipers. All to protect election workers from the violent mobs that swarmed the building in 2020.
But that level of security comes at a steep price, over $3 million from county funds alone. Most local election offices simply can't afford those kinds of measures, leaving them dangerously exposed.
It’s no surprise that experienced election workers are quitting in droves, burned out by constant harassment and death threats. A staggering 36% of local election offices have changed hands since 2020, the highest turnover rate in two decades.
We're facing a perfect storm that threatens the very foundations of our democracy. Rampant misinformation. Escalating threats of violence. A mass exodus of experienced election officials.
If we don't act now to secure our elections, we may not get another chance. Demand your governor allocate emergency funding to protect election workers and secure polling places before November. Our democracy is on the line.
The integrity of our elections is non-negotiable. We must ensure that every voter can cast their ballot free from intimidation and that every vote is counted fairly and accurately.
Thank you for standing up for free and fair elections,
- Amanda
