Team, there’s no sugarcoating it: It’s going to take a long time for our state (and our nation) to recover from this pandemic. In the latest news, the economic impact of COVID-19 has Kentucky headed for a budget shortfall that could balloon as high as almost half a billion dollars by the end of June.

We need federal assistance, and we need it fast. Our education system, public safety, infrastructure, and many state services are on the line. It makes it all the more jarring that Mitch McConnell callously said he favored struggling states like Kentucky filing for bankruptcy instead.

Let’s be clear: This isn’t a moment to decide winners and losers based on perceived political allegiances. This virus doesn’t care who you vote for, and neither should our leaders in Washington who are responsible for preventing this crisis from getting worse.

All of us know that Mitch had no trouble funneling billions in aid to major corporations. If you have lobbyists in Washington, you get taken care of. If you don’t, Mitch’s position is that you should fend for yourself.

Moments like this prove that the people of Kentucky are at the bottom of Mitch’s list—and if he’s re-elected, that’s where we’re going to stay.

It doesn’t have to continue this way. We’ve already pulled even with Mitch in fundraising and in the polls—we can win this. I will be a senator who’ll fight for what’s right and put the people of Kentucky first—if you can, chip in to help make it happen:
