Robert Roberson tragically lost his daughter in 2002 – and shortly after, his freedom. Right now, he is scheduled to be executed on Oct. 17 for a crime that never occurred.

Robert’s 2-year-old, chronically ill daughter, Nikki, was sick with a high fever and suffered a short fall from bed. When Robert took her to the hospital, the staff – without knowing he had autism – judged his response to Nikki’s condition as lacking emotion. 

Robert was then prosecuted, convicted, and sentenced to death under the now-debunked shaken baby syndrome hypothesis. If the courts proceed with Robert’s scheduled execution, he will be the first person in the United States executed based on this discredited hypothesis. 

John, the overwhelming medical and scientific evidence showing Nikki died of accidental and natural causes has attracted widespread support in Texas and beyond. Now, even the lead detective who arrested Robert and bestselling writer John Grisham have joined the many bipartisan politicians, lawyers, scientists, and doctors in sounding the alarm.
