I must say, friend, I'm stunned by what we’ve seen unfolding these past couple of weeks.

Hurricanes Helene and Milton have caused heartbreaking damage, upending millions of lives. I am grateful for the National Weather Service and the National Hurricane Council for acting quickly to keep people as safe as possible dealing with the unpredictable nature of natural disasters.

But Republican extremists are convinced that these are the acts of a shadowy group of people who control the weather, targeting these areas for political purposes:

Let’s be clear: there are no space lasers. No shadowy group can pick and choose these disasters. Extreme weather caused by global warming is here, and it’s getting more damaging by the year.

The GOP is in complete climate denial headed into the election, and it's a concerning sign for what another two years of Republican control of the House will look like: More chaos, conspiracies, and inaction.

We must stand firm against MAGA extremism – including Project 2025 which wants to get rid of the technology and forecasters like NOAA who do the work to keep us safe.
