My heart is heavy this morning as I see the devastation of Hurricane Milton...
John, are you okay?
My heart is heavy this morning as I see the devastation of Hurricane Milton. I don’t know if you or your family were in the path of the storm or potentially impacted by Hurricane Helene a few weeks ago. But I just wanted to make sure you are safe.
Please reply and let me know, if you can.
The last few weeks have been a whirlwind as our team has been hard at work serving those impacted by Hurricane Helene. Now, to have another record-breaking storm follow so closely behind, the number of pregnant moms and supportive dads needing practical support will skyrocket in the days ahead.
That’s why our team met this week to pray through Psalm 46. I encourage you to read it if you can, but here are some verses that stood out:
"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging." Ps. 46:1-3
It struck me that God doesn’t promise that mountains won’t crumble. Or that the things we rely on in this life won’t break down or get washed away by a storm. Instead, He promises in these verses to be our “ever-present help in trouble.”
As we begin picking up the pieces from these storms and reach out with loving hands to those who have lost everything, I pray that the peace and presence of Jesus will abide in your heart. And I pray that He will strengthen you for whatever lies ahead for you personally.
I’m praying with you and for you,
Jason Law
Director of Communications
P.S. – Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need something. I can’t guarantee that we’ll be able to help, but we are connected with resources on the ground in the areas affected by both hurricanes.
