Hey John,
We don’t have to tell you that times are tough and weird right now -- every family and community is facing their own challenges. Despite everything happening, gun violence has increased. We are all reeling from the death of Ahmaud Arbery [[link removed]] and his senseless murder in Georgia.
The moment to act is now. Now more than ever we need to support and sustain efforts to end gun violence. Now is the time to demand justice for our communities. Now is the time to listen and support people on the front lines of these fights across the country.
That’s why we’re excited to announce Peace is Essential -- a partnership between MFOL and the Community Justice Action Fund (CJAF). MFOL and CJAF [[link removed]] were both borne out of tragedies, in Parkland and Charleston respectively, and are committed to ending gun violence in all communities.
To launch this partnership, we’re supporting seven frontline organizations who are continuing their on-the-ground work to prevent gun violence in their communities, even in the face of COVID-19. These programs and others like them across the country can have incredible success in saving lives -- but too often they don’t have the resources they need. That’s why we’re standing with them as they advocate for vital funding and policy changes, and making one-time grants to help them keep up the work during this pandemic.
