Dear John,
Trump’s GOP and their Project 2025 would destroy the affordability of Medicare and Medicaid for millions of seniors and people with disabilities.
Trump may have publicly disavowed the 900+ page tome, but if he were elected, you know his people would be running the show, and you can be sure they will follow the Heritage Foundation’s highly detailed plans -- complete with MAGA-faithful vetted personnel to carry them out.
For health care, this means not only, yet again, seeking to defeat the Affordable Care Act, but also taking Medicare out of the public sphere and handing it over to big for-profit corporations like Aetna and UnitedHealthcare.
This is a dream for Wall Street, and a nightmare for the American people.
Their plan is guaranteed to increase the price of prescription medications and health care for every person who relies on Medicare, delivering excessive profits to health insurance companies that will always prioritize the bottom-line over people and their care. No wonder Big Pharma and Wall Street love it too!
This corporate takeover of Medicare must never be allowed to happen. Send a direct message to your senators and representative to demand they protect Medicare from Trump’s Project 2025 now!
Experience teaches us that corporate insurers are a disaster for Medicare. Private “Advantage” plans delay and deny care, limit choice of doctors, and leave both patients and hospitals paying exorbitantly to line corporate pockets with record-breaking profits.
What would Trump’s Project 2025 mean for Medicare and Medicaid? It would:
-
Cut Medicaid benefits
-
Establish lifetime caps and time limits for length of coverage
-
Increase drug prices covered by Medicare Part D
-
Make it harder to qualify for Medicaid, cutting back on medical care for those who can least afford it
-
Rescind Medicare’s power to negotiate lower drug prices with Big Pharma by repealing the Inflation Reduction Act.
Clearly, Republicans don’t care about government spending. We have already seen a huge drop in prescription drug prices when Medicare was able to negotiate costs for the first 10 medications earlier this year, but Republicans are happy to give that away as a handout to Big Pharma.
The Biden-Harris administration even capped insulin at $35 per month without negotiations required by law. Of course, Project 2025 would repeal that too.
The reality is that stripping people of their benefits would leave many low-income earning enrollees, especially the disabled, the ill, and the elderly, without options and force them to forgo essential medical care.
The choice is clear. The Republican plan for Medicare will harm seniors and people with disabilities. Tell Congress: Protect Medicare from Project 2025 now!
Thank you for taking action to protect Medicare and Medicaid today.
