Friends, you’ve probably heard the term “battleground state” or maybe even “swing state” a few times this election season — we’ve used it in our emails to describe how Georgia will play a role in this year’s elections.

A battleground or swing state means the votes in that state could be won by either candidate, helping them get closer to 270 electoral votes. In the 2024 presidential election, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Arizona, and North Carolina are key battleground states.

We know President Joe Biden won our state by just under 12,000 votes in 2020 — which triggered MAGA extremists to lie about voter fraud and set off their plan to block access to the ballot box. Georgia has been on the frontline of voter suppression attacks since.

Polling shows Georgia in a statistical tie between Vice President Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, meaning our votes will be pivotal to the final results of the election. This is why our work is so important, friends. Through your support, our voter programs and educational resources play a role in building voter power in Georgia.
