🎉  New Candidate Endorsements!

For the first time EVER, we’ve endorsed a sixth wave of powerhouse state legislative candidates, and it would not have been possible without this community’s sustained energy and support.

Meet our 6 new brilliant progressive champions: ⤵️

MICHIGAN

  • Trevis Harrold (MI House)
  • Aisha Farooqi (MI House)
  • Mai Xiong (MI House)

WISCONSIN

  • Sarah Keyeski (WI Senate)
  • Lori Palmeri (WI Assembly)
  • Amaad Rivera Wagner (WI Assembly)

💪 With fewer than 30 days until Election Day, let’s show up for these powerhouse candidates. Help us raise $5,000 for each of them to fuel their path to victory.

💡 Team Spotlight:

Over 20 Sister District NYC volunteers joined Anna Thomas for a day of door-knocking! The team had many conversations with receptive voters and is looking forward to knocking again soon!

Lala — our co-founder and Executive Director — joined a group from California Peninsula for a backyard BBQ as a prize from their record-breaking June Auction for Judy Schwiebert!

💡 Organizing Update:

Our phonebanks have been a huge success! To date, our dedicated calls have contributed to:

  • 942 local volunteers recruited!
  • 1,858 vote plans made!
  • 5,965 undecided voters found!
  • 739,829 total dials made!

But our work isn’t over yet. We’re heading into the most critical (and exciting) period of this election, and we need your help to contact as many battleground state voters as possible!

🛠️  In Case You Missed It: Showcasing the Downballot Voter Toolkit

Last month, we showcased our brand-new Downballot Voter Toolkit!

Many Democrats “roll off” their ballots after voting at the top of the ticket, and we lose voters who could make a difference in vital state legislative races and other down-ballot contests.

In our toolkit, we share key findings, tested messaging, downloadable content, and examples of effective ads that you can use to highlight the critical issues state legislatures decide and encourage voters to support down-ballot Democratic candidates.

The Downballot Voter Toolkit is your go-to guide to encourage and empower your friends, family, and personal network to make sure they vote all the way down the ballot! Click here to check it out.

🎟️  You’re Invited: Sister District Fireside Chat: A Conversation with David Daley

On Tuesday, October 15 join Sister District for a conversation with David Daley about his new book Antidemocratic: Inside the Far Right’s 50-Year Plot to Control American Elections.

The conversation will be moderated by Gaby Goldstein, Co-Founder of Sister District. And there will be ample time for audience Q&A.

In his book, investigative reporter David Daley reveals the urgent story of the fifty-year Republican plot to end the Voting Rights Act and encourage minority rule in their party’s favor.

From the bowels of Reagan’s DOJ to the walls of the conservative Federalist Society to the moneyed Republican resources bankrolling restrictive voting laws today, Daley reveals a hidden history as sweeping as it is troubling.

Through careful research and exhaustive reporting, Daley connects Shelby to a well-funded, highly-coordinated right-wing effort to erode the power of minority voters and Democrats at the ballot box—an effort that has grown stronger with each election cycle.

In the process, Chief Justice Roberts and his conservative allies have enabled fringe conservative theories about our elections with the potential to shape the 2024 election and topple the foundations of our democracy. Timely and alarming, Daley offers a powerful message that, while Shelby was the misguided end of the Voting Rights Act, it was also the beginning of something far darker.

RSVP to join us on Tuesday, October 15 at 4pm PT/7pm ET.
