Take action to oppose Israeli settlements and annexation

Dear Supporter,

Assalaamu ‘Alaikum and Ramadan Mubarak.

Next week, we will commemorate the Nakba, the greatest catastrophe that has ever faced the Palestinian people. It has been more than seven decades since the State of Israel began its institutionalized land-theft of Palestinian land --  and our Nakba has been ongoing ever since.

For years, Israel has shamelessly promoted its intention to disregard international law and commit war crimes by annexing additional parts of the occupied West Bank. Now, with the explicit endorsement of Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has signaled his intentions to move forward with the plan by concluding a coalition agreement to bring annexation to a vote in July.

This is yet another iteration of the Nakba: more land theft, colonization, and forced displacement.

Please take a minute to call on the US government to stop supporting Israel’s illegal and unconscionable violation of Palestinian rights. Congress and the Trump administration should punish Israel for violating international law rather than fund its crimes with our tax dollars.

Fortunately, Senators Chris Murphy (D-CT), Tim Kaine (D-VA), and Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) are collecting signatures on a letter warning Israel of the consequences it will face if it annexes Palestinian land. The Senators conclude that Israel “no longer values the bipartisan support that Congress has provided it for decades” should it proceed with annexation, presaging a possible cut-off of US support.

Not only is Netanyahu planning to annex occupied Palestinian land, but he’s also expanding illegal Jewish-only settlements. Just yesterday, the Israeli government approved the construction of 7,000 new settlement units right next to Bethlehem as a prelude to annexation.

Take action today to send a message to the White House, your Senators, and your Representative urging them to sanction Israel for its ongoing illegal colonization and potential further annexation of Palestinian land.

Israel must be held accountable for these egregious acts. It can no longer enjoy unconditional US aid and act with impunity. The Palestinian people have suffered and continue to suffer through the Nakba but have never stopped fighting for their rights. It’s our job to stop our own government from aiding and abetting Israel’s crimes.

Please send a letter to Congress and the White House now.

Your Brother,

Dr. Osama Abuirshaid
Executive Director, AMP
