Remembering the Lives Taken on October 7th

At the start of the week, we recognized the one-year anniversary of the horrific Hamas terrorist attack in Israel. We continue to grieve for the lives stolen and the families shattered as we work to bring hostages home. Their agony, felt and shared in Jewish communities across the globe, is close with us as we remember, reflect, and recognize this painful day.

Congressman Kim Celebrates Project Funding’s Success Supporting Lenape Regional High School District Transition to Adulthood Program

This week we were thrilled to stop by Binkley’s 5 & 10 in Medford to celebrate the impact of funding Congressman Kim secured for the Lenape Regional High School District’s Transition to Adulthood Program! The local business is one of the schools’ partners to employ special needs students between the ages 17-21 and help them develop important life skills and set them up for life-long success.

We are proud that Congressman Kim could bring back federal dollars to support such an impactful initiative that goes above and beyond to look out for the well-being and growth of local students. We need to continue working to expand opportunities like this that make sure people with disabilities can thrive in communities across New Jersey.

Recognizing Childcare Week of Action

This week we have been recognizing “Childcare Week of Action” to uplift the dire shortage of affordable childcare in our country. It’s something Congressman Kim has prioritized in Congress and heard about from the local community, including at the Back to School roundtable he hosted with community leaders last month.

His work includes crucial support for programs like Head Start and to support the childcare workforce to combat staffing issues. He also has introduced legislation like the Military Child Care Transparency and Expansion Act to deliver greater transparency and access to childcare for servicemembers and their families and the Expanding Child Care Access Act to address the childcare shortage nationwide.

46% of New Jersey residents live in a “childcare desert.” His legislation would encourage potential providers to open new childcare businesses, expand the overall supply of care, and increase choice and flexibility for families.

Supporting Our Local Community Providers

This week, Congressman Kim joined the New Jersey Association of Community Providers who work day in and day out to advance sustainable community services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. To get every American the accessible, affordable care they deserve, it is essential we support care workers and deliver the resources and infrastructure needed to look out for unique care needs across New Jersey.

Promoting Lead-Free Pipes for New Jersey

This week, we were excited to celebrate a $44 million investment to remove lead-pipes across New Jersey. Everyone should be able to trust the water coming into their homes and schools. We are proud to see Congressman Kim's work to pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law continue to deliver critical funding to help our state and our country meet our 10-year zero lead-pipe goal.

World Mental Health Day

On World Mental Health Day earlier this week, we helped amplify the critical work and need to expand access to mental healthcare and resources. Let us continue to focus on our collective responsibility to tear down stigmas and barriers to getting help to anyone who needs it.

Do you know a young, aspiring computer scientist? Registration for the 2024 Congressional App Challenge is open! The challenge is an incredible annual opportunity for local middle and high school students to show off their STEM skills.
