John -

Frontline communities are experiencing unimaginable loss from devastating
hurricanes, wildfires and floods at patterns that are stunning seasoned
climate scientists and meteorologists. Lives have been cut short, entire
towns have been erased, and the reality of the climate crisis begs for our
immediate attention.

In our grief and rage, we will not accept less than the climate action we
deserve. We need a climate champion like Vice President Kamala Harris to
defeat Trump this November — but we can’t stop there.

We have a plan of climate action. We’re calling on the next administration
to:

 1. Declare a climate emergency. Recent climate disasters have caused
unfathomable destruction, and the climate crisis cannot be ignored.
The next president must recognize this as a true emergency and unlock
the resources needed to protect our communities — and invest in the
real climate solutions we need, not dangerous distractions like carbon
capture.
 2. End fossil-fuel subsidies. The U.S. Export-Import Bank (EXIM) plays a
significant role in funding our global climate crisis. And the next
president must put an end to EXIM’s subsidies for fossil fuel projects
abroad.
 3. Stop Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) mining in the Gulf. Despite court
interference, the next presidential administration can take bold
actions to protect frontline communities from LNG mining.
 4. Facilitate an arms embargo on Israel. The U.S. has enabled and armed
Israel's genocide in Gaza. We call on VP Harris, as we have on Biden,
to support a ceasefire and arms embargo.
 5. Use their platform to amplify climate injustices. The president has a
bully pulpit. As president, VP Harris can shine a spotlight on
unaffordable utility bills and utility companies’ reliance on dirty
energy and lobbying efforts to block net metering.

Standing in solidarity with those harmed by the climate crisis means
holding those in power to their moral duty to enact immediate climate
action.

P.S. We can’t miss this opportunity to elect a climate-friendly president
and push a future Harris administration to champion climate justice.
