Hi John! In a minute, I'm going to ask you to support my reelection campaign, but first: earlier this month, I was honored to attend a forum hosted by the League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan voter education organization.
It was a great opportunity to talk about the issues that matter to our community: from immigration reform to a Supreme Court ethics code, and everything in between. And when it comes to addressing these issues in Congress, I've worked really hard to deliver for this district.
Between introducing legislation to ensure veterans receive the education benefits they deserve, to co-sponsoring legislation that would carve out a clear path to citizenship, my top priority is and always has been standing up for the people of my district.
And while I'd like to continue, that brings me to another important point I made during the forum: the impact of dark money in politics.
We've already seen how they've targeted progressive voices like me — just this year, AIPAC's spending in the primaries of Jamaal Bowman and Cori Bush made those the first and second most expensive primaries in history.
There's no doubt the same groups behind their losses are eyeing my seat right here in Illinois, and because I've never accepted a dime in corporate PAC money, I'm counting on a strong coalition of grassroots supporters to help me win against them.
But with only a few weeks left until Election Day, and a few days until our final Reporting Deadline of the cycle, I need your help to show the strength of my people-powered movement. Will you support my reelection campaign with a donation of any amount you can spare?
