<[link removed]> <[link removed]>Friend,

In Jewish tradition, we learn that the gates of heaven are open for the 10 days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Tonight, as the sun sets, we move into Yom Kippur and the gates begin to close.

The Days of Awe are an opportunity for teshuvah — reflection and return. We can reach for forgiveness and find it within us to forgive. Teshuvah is meant to restore and replenish us, to connect us to each other and make our hearts lighter.

As a political home and resource for Jews and allies like you, Friend, our prayer is that your teshuvah supports your tzedek (work for justice).

This past year, each of us has fallen short — not showing up for a loved one, contributing to the larger harm of our world, or staying silent when we should have spoken, for example. This is part of being human.

Now, as the gates close, is the moment we dream better versions of ourselves, our communities, and our country. By doing this collectively, our Jewish movement can better bend the arc toward justice.

Thank you for making Bend the Arc a place where you practice tzedek. For 12 years, we’ve committed and recommitted to creating a world where all of us can thrive, as individuals and together. But we can only do this work together, as a movement. Your strength is our strength.

G'mar chatima tovah — may we all be sealed in the book of life for a year of strength, safety, and justice.

PS: The 2024 election represents a critical moment for our country: will we move closer toward tzedek, or further away? At Bend the Arc, we’re clear that a vote for Kamala Harris is a vote for our families, freedoms, and futures. Join an upcoming Jews for Kamala phonebank to call undecided and battleground state voters — the next shifts are October 15 and 16. <[link removed]>

Help power our movement forward

We're rising up alongside all who are impacted by antisemitism, anti-Black racism, and white supremacy to fight for the joyful future we deserve — a future where Black liberation is realized and where all of us are safe and thriving, no matter what we look like or where we come from.
