John,
No matter what state we live in or what we do for work, we ALL deserve to make a living wage. But CEOs and corporations will do anything to increase their profit margins -- even if that means lying about the impacts of higher wages. Spread the word and help stop corporate lies! [[link removed]]
When I, alongside my fellow fast-food workers, pushed for a $20 minimum fast-food wage in California, corporations and the politicians they buy tried to say that it would wreck the economy. But we knew the truth -- that the nearly half million fast-food workers in California were struggling to live on poverty wages.
We knew the truth, because it was our lived experience -- and now, TWO new reports back us up. Researchers found that the $20 minimum wage didn’t decrease the number of jobs like corporations said it did. Instead, it had real, positive impacts on fast-food workers and their families.
If you listen to corporations, you would have thought their world ended when we successfully pushed for a $20 minimum fast-food wage. They say that higher wages have led to restaurant closures, businesses moving out of the state, higher prices, and more. But it's been six months since our wages went up and the number of jobs has increased since the raise was enacted.
Poverty wages are bad for the economy, bad for society, and bad for hardworking people like you and me. The logic is simple -- but that doesn't stop CEOs from trying to mislead us all into keeping their profit margins large. Share now and spread the truth: higher wages are good for all of us!
