Giving children the care they deserve

Hi Friend,

Eye surgery is scary, regardless of your age. Now imagine being a child who can barely see what’s going on around you.

For many children who step on board our Flying Eye Hospital, the experience can be very frightening and overwhelming. That’s where Orbis’s fluffy family member, Seymour the bear, comes in.

Seymour has been part of the team since we first embarked on our mission. Joining volunteers on our famous Flying Eye Hospital, he’s there to comfort children after surgery.

Every child receives their very own Seymour teddy bear to help them feel safe and supported during their treatment. To make it extra special, Seymour gets an eye patch, just like his patient, which helps strengthen the bond they share.

Seymour is always there to give them a comforting hug when they wake up. In fact, he’s often the first thing they see. From then on, he’s a huge part of their recovery – making them smile and playing with them, as they head home to start the new chapter of their lives.

Seymour really does have the best job – but he, and the rest of the Orbis family, couldn’t do what we do without your kindness and generosity.

So, from Seymour the Bear and the rest of the Orbis team, we’d like to say a huge thank you for helping children access the care they deserve.
