Dear friend,

We’re getting close! The general election is only weeks away on Nov. 5. We’re focused on lifting up our endorsed candidates [[link removed]] who are running bright, positive, and successful campaigns. However, when it comes to Senate District 8, I need to be frank.

Duey Stroebel, who is running against our endorsed candidate Jodi Habush Sinykin for Senate District 8, is one of the most extreme politicians in Wisconsin. Stroebel’s absurd partisanship and anti-environmental record prove he does not care about safeguarding Wisconsin’s natural resources or our right to vote.

As a landlord with questionable business practices [[link removed]] , Stroebel seems motivated by ties to the property development industry. He’s also taken advantage of taxpayer funded farm subsidies intended to support farmers and agricultural operations [[link removed]] . Even as he has paid little to no state taxes [[link removed]] himself, despite being a multi-millionaire. Stroebel has faced criticism for his history as a landlord, with accusations of poor management practices and a reputation for being exploitative. It’s not hard to understand who he’s working for: himself.

He consistently votes in favor of stripping away essential environmental protections and aligning himself with the most extreme elements of his party. He prioritizes big business profits over the health of our communities.

Take the Cedar Gorge Clay Bluffs [[link removed]] for example. It’s a stunning case of Stroebel’s hypocrisy. He recently toured the 131-acre testament to Wisconsin’s natural beauty – a treasured resource and vital recreational area for the region. He touted his “environmental record” when there. But, here’s what really happened – Cedar Gorge was almost sold to the highest bidder, thanks to him and his negligence.

Last year, Ozaukee Washington Land Trust [[link removed]] was looking forward to celebrating the completion of a decade-long effort to protect Cedar Gorge with a grant from the state’s Knowles Nelson Stewardship Program. There was just one final step – the grant award required a passive review from the legislature’s Joint Committee on Finance (JFC). Stroebel is vice chair of that powerful committee. The JFC has the authority to look at any Knowles-Nelson grant request over $250,000.

Well, it was suddenly blocked anonymously by a JFC member. And, what did Stroebel do? Nothing. He had the power to put a halt to the roadblock and get that grant passed out of committee. Instead, he suspiciously did nothing. He says he wasn’t the anonymous objector. Still, he did nothing to stop it. It took Gov. Evers to save Cedar Gorge. He stepped in to save the project by funding the final $2.3 million for the Cedar Gorge Clay Bluffs preserve using federal dollars.

We deserve better than Stroebel’s brand of conduct from our elected leaders. A vote for Stroebel is a vote against clean water, responsible land use, and sustainable energy development. If elected in the new district he’s running for, he will accelerate environmental degradation in service of a dangerous political agenda that does not represent the needs of our community or our planet. He will only increase the political rancor he and his party in the legislature have built, purposefully, to divide us.

Fortunately, we have a clear alternative: Jody Habush Sinykin. As a committed environmental attorney, Jody has spent her career fighting for clean water, land preservation, and responsible environmental policy. Unlike Stroebel, she understands that protecting our natural resources is essential for the long-term health of both our planet and our people. Jody represents a voice of reason, collaboration, and respect for science – the exact opposite of Stroebel’s partisan extremism.

We need your help to elect Jodi Habush Synikin to the State Senate. Help us today>>> [[link removed]]

Make your voice heard. Say NO to Stroebel’s reckless agenda and YES to Jody’s leadership for a healthier, greener Wisconsin.
