John — Big news! The Seattle Times Editorial Board endorsed Emily Randall for Congress in Washington’s 6th District! 🎉
In their endorsement, The Editorial Board wrote: Expanding health care access and aligning higher education toward good paying jobs has been [Emily] Randall’s focus in the Legislature — priorities she now wants to take to Congress. Voters should give her that chance. They also wrote about how Emily’s lived experience, working-class background, and deep community roots make her perfect for the job: Randall’s campaign-trail success is in part that her viewpoints are more than political, they are personal — and relatable for many in the 6th… Growing up in Kitsap County, she saw firsthand how expanded Medicaid subsidies eased her family’s financial strain in caring for her younger sister, who was born with developmental disabilities. Financial aid helped propel her to Wellesley College, where she became the first four-year college graduate of her family. And, as a major gift officer for Planned Parenthood when Donald Trump was elected, she saw the beginnings of a pendulum swing that included the end of federal abortion protections under the U.S. Supreme Court Roe v. Wade decision. The Seattle Times is the largest paper in the state, and this is a terrific boost as many Washingtonians get ready to vote. But John, we don’t have much time to get our positive message to as many voters as possible — and cut through any nasty Republican attacks that come our way.
