As Attorney General, Rob is dedicated to enforcing California’s election laws to ensure free and fair elections, and protect your right to make your voice heard. Ahead of the critical November 5th general election, he’s working to defend our democracy, protect voters from misinformation and disinformation, and ensure all voters know their rights.
This week, vote-by-mail ballots were mailed to every active, registered voter in California. While Election Day is November 5th, it’s really more of an election deadline. California voters have several options to return their completed ballot early: by mail using the postage-paid envelope provided, at a secure drop box, or in person at a vote center or polling place.
Rob reminded voters of the California Voter Bill of Rights and released a new publication about federal and state laws that protect voters with disabilities, to ensure every eligible voter can cast their ballot.
He also issued a consumer alert to warn voters about the spread of false and misleading claims about voting in our elections, especially across social media platforms and through robocalls. California law makes it a crime to intentionally mislead voters about their eligibility to vote, or about where and when to vote—and Rob is serious about enforcing it. The California DOJ also issued a bulletin reminding law enforcement officials to protect Californians from election interference, voter intimidation, and voter deception.
Thanks for all you do and don’t forget to vote,
Team Bonta
