Hurricanes continue to create barriers to voting
* A federal judge denied ([link removed]) a request to reopen voter registration in Florida due to the impacts of Hurricanes Helene and Milton. The deadline was Monday. During a hearing, the judge said voters could have still registered online while evacuating.
* Georgia's voter registration deadline will not be extended, a judge ruled ([link removed]) . Civil rights groups asked the court to reopen the state's voter registration after Hurricane Helene disrupted registration efforts a week before the deadline.

* Congressional Democrats, led by Georgia Rep. Nikema Williams, asked ([link removed]) President Joe Biden to send $3.5 million in FEMA aid to election offices across seven states recently impacted by hurricanes. Democrats also urged the USPS to prioritize processing election mail in affected areas.
