This coming January, the minimum wage in Washington will increase to $16.66 an hour. That’s because our state law requires the minimum wage to increase each year along with the cost of living — which really should be the case everywhere!

While Washington has modernized its minimum wage laws, there are still far too many places that haven’t. In some states, the minimum wage remains $7.25 an hour. That’s literally a poverty-level wage.
All people deserve to earn a decent living, whether you’re a CEO or a customer service rep. All work has dignity, and no one who works 40+ hours a week should find themselves struggling to afford the basics like rent, groceries, and medical expenses.
