Friend — The climate crisis is making natural disasters such as hurricanes far worse and more frequent. We’ve known that for years now. And the devastating hurricanes that have wreaked havoc in Florida and across Appalachia are no exception.
Just look at the intense power of hurricane Milton as described by a meteorologist:

Now, I want you to think about this. When a hurricane like Milton comes to town, people like Donald Trump and his Big Oil cronies have no problem evacuating and keeping themselves safe.
Meanwhile, thousands and thousands of working class families who simply don’t have the resources to evacuate or prepare for the storm have to risk their lives and livelihoods.
That’s why we fight for a Green New Deal that takes ambitious steps to cut carbon emissions, transition to clean energy, and invest back in the workers and communities who are on the frontlines of this crisis.
We fight for real climate justice because all of the inequality we work to address in our progressive movement is already being exacerbated by climate change. We have an environmental and moral obligation to take urgent action.
We’ve made incredible progress over the last four years, but there’s still so much work to do. I hope I can continue to count on your support as we build the movement for a Green New Deal.
