John,
Vice President Kamala Harris announced a major initiative this week that would expand Medicare to cover long-term home health care for seniors and people with disabilities.1
Her proposal will allow seniors to retire with dignity, and provide people with disabilities with the care they need, while being able to remain in the comfort of their own homes. And it will allow caregiving family members to remain in the workforce.
These are the exact kinds of policies we need to support working families across the country struggling with the overwhelming cost of care. Add your name here to say you support Kamala Harris’ plan to expand Medicare to cover long-term home health care. Then, share your story on how this policy will impact you and your family.

Millions of working families struggle to afford the astronomical costs of caregiving for their loved ones — which can often cost up to six figures a year.2 But Medicaid only covers in-home healthcare in rare circumstances.
This forces many working age caregivers to either leave the workforce entirely, in order to take care of their loved ones, or put their family members in nursing homes or long-term care facilities, even if those loved ones would be better served at home. It also places an extra burden on nursing homes and assisted living facilities — 57% of which have waitlists and 46% are already starting to limit new admissions.3
Nearly 20% of seniors need help with daily activities like bathing, dressing, and feeding, and that percentage grows the older they get. And with 30 million baby boomers expected to reach retirement age in the next 5 years, we could soon face a caregiving crisis, unless we figure out a solution soon.4
Kamala Harris’ plan to have Medicare cover in-home health care will give families the flexibility to make caregiving decisions that best work for their families, while giving seniors and people with disabilities independence and dignity.
Will you sign on to our petition in support of Kamala Harris’ in-home health care plan? Together, we can show there is a groundswell of support for Medicare coverage of long-term home health care.
In solidarity,
Team WFP
