Folks,
I wanted to reach out personally and provide a quick update on what we’ve been doing in Congress to provide COVID-19 relief to those who need it most.
I worked closely with my Democratic colleagues to ensure the most recent COVID-19 stimulus package — aimed at providing relief to small businesses across the country -- including support for cannabis businesses. I introduced legislation that will allow these legal and legitimate small businesses to apply for Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans and other funding through the Small Business Administration (SBA).
Despite evidence of the impact COVID-19 is already having on small businesses, localities and states across the country, Sen. Mitch McConnell and the GOP have already questioned whether states like ours should continue to receive support from the federal government.
Small businesses — including the cannabis industry — remain at the very heart of our economy and it is incumbent upon us all to ensure they have the support they need.

Thanks to our dedicated frontline workers and incredible healthcare professionals, we are making great strides and we are starting to see the ease of some restrictions.
But we are not there yet.
That’s why I am personally encouraging you all to take the advice of public health officials and Gov. Polis and continue to stay safe by staying home whenever possible and maintaining social distancing whenever you are in public spaces.
These precautions are needed to keep our vulnerable populations safe and to keep Colorado moving forward in our fight against COVID-19.
I have no doubt that if we work together we will pull through this.
Thank you for all you have done these last few weeks to keep our communities safe.
More updates soon,
Ed
