John,
As of today, more than 230 people across six states have lost their lives, thousands have lost their homes, and millions have lost power in the wake of Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton.
My thoughts are with those whose lives have been upended by these supercharged storms. Alison and I, as well as our whole campaign team, are thankful for the first responders, cleanup crews, and other emergency workers working around the clock to save as many lives as possible.
If you’re able, please contribute to one or more of the organizations engaged in recovery work in Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, and the entire region affected by Helene and Milton:
• Vote Save America has put together a donation page to support multiple groups with one click.
• WFAE in Charlotte compiled a list of local organizations to help recovery in the Carolinas.
• Learn about how climate change is powering these storms to record highs.
In Washington, we know firsthand that the climate crisis is here. It’s costly, and it’s deadly. From wildfires and smoky skies to tsunamis and king tides, the toll of inaction continues to climb.
In Congress, I will make bold climate action a top priority, and we must elect leaders at every level of the ballot who will do the same.
Thank you so much 💙
— Emily
