Friend,
We have an update on Ohio. If you
haven’t heard, someone not authorized to submit paperwork on behalf of
the campaign turned in a document requesting to withdraw the Vice
Presidential candidate from the ballot, after the deadline to submit a
new candidate.
The person who submitted this
paperwork to the Ohio Secretary of State admitted when turning in the
form that the signature on the form was not “wet” (it was a graphic
that was copy and pasted), and that they were not a campaign
staffer.
The Secretary of State should have
rejected it on those grounds alone. But instead, they accepted the
form - then declared no votes for Jill would count.
To make this even more incredible
and unacceptable, our Ohio VP candidate then sent the SoS a notarized
affidavit stating that she didn’t authorize the withdrawal form, and
the SoS replied that they wouldn’t accept it because the notarization
wasn’t “embossed”... after they had accepted the original,
unauthorized VP withdrawal form with a copy-pasted
signature.
We have filed a lawsuit to make the
Ohio Secretary of State correct their error. We are
confident that we will win the lawsuit and votes for Jill will be
counted in Ohio.
These fights against shenanigans in
multiple states have been a huge expense for the campaign, but it is
worth it to ensure that the people, including the 8 million registered
voters in Ohio, have an anti-genocide, pro-worker, climate action
candidate on their ballots in November.
Friend,
please pitch in today so Jill and Butch can continue to fight for real
democracy across the country:
