I’m used to being written off.

When I first ran for Congress, no one thought I could win. Despite the naysayers, I ended up winning that race and became the very first woman elected to the House of Representatives from Wisconsin. And it wouldn’t be the last time our team would make history.

When I ran for U.S. Senate in 2012, an incredible team of grassroots supporters (like you!) fought alongside me — even as some people wrote us off. You helped me become the first woman elected to the Senate from our state and the first openly gay Senator in our nation’s history.

When you defy the odds as much as I have, people start to ask: what’s your secret?

I hate to burst their bubble, but the truth is, there’s no “secret sauce.”

My “secret” is showing up all over the state. It’s listening to people. Hearing their concerns. Then taking those concerns back to inform my work in Washington.

It’s what separates me from my right-wing opponent who’s trying to buy this Senate seat — a California megamillionaire who doesn’t know the first thing about what Wisconsinites need.

Eric Hovde has a long history of disparaging the communities he’s seeking to represent — from saying farmers are lazy to claiming people in nursing homes shouldn’t vote, and a whole lot more…

But what he lacks in experience and understanding, he makes up for with a personal fortune that’s self-funding his campaign to flip Wisconsin red. He and his Republican allies have already plastered Wisconsin with $63 million worth of ads to effectively close the polling gap and make this a toss up race.

While I continue to connect with voters in every corner of the Badger state, I could really use your support to make sure my campaign has the resources to fight back against the Republicans who are currently outspending us on the airwaves.
