Hey — it’s Nikki. I was recently interviewed by Michelle Eccles with NPR Illinois, where we checked in on the status of the Farm Bill:

Before I share more, can you chip in any amount to my grassroots campaign right now? We’re in the final stretch, and I need your help to continue delivering commonsense solutions for Illinois farmers and families.

Here’s what I said to Michelle: 

The holdup on passing a comprehensive and equitable Farm Bill is due to House Republicans’ lack of leadership. 

From proposing a $30 billion cut to SNAP benefits, to stripping critical support for local farmers — my colleagues across the aisle are pushing a bill that will NOT benefit Illinois or our agricultural industry. 

They’d rather kick the can down the road than buckle down to reach a bipartisan compromise. Illinois growers and families deserve better than short-term solutions, and I’ll never stop fighting on their behalf. 

The only thing is, I can’t stay in this fight without your grassroots support. Can you donate any amount to help my team and I win this election and pass a Farm Bill that lifts up Illinois growers and farmers?
