M1X electronic filing will not be available for tax year 2024.
General header
After careful consideration, we have decided to not offer electronic filing of the M1X for tax year 2024.
As the project got to later stages of development, a number of issues were discovered which would have required significant time and resources to solve.
This decision was not made lightly; after considering the other important changes coming to our tax filing systems this year, we made the decision to put the project on hold to not risk the success of this and other active projects before the upcoming filing season.
The process and details we shared in our email on September 13, 2024, will not be accurate for tax year 2024. We will accept amended income tax returns for tax year 2024 on paper, following the same process used in previous years. For more information, visit Amending an Income Tax Return [ [link removed] ].
We are working to draft updated Form M1, and Form M1X, as soon as possible. We plan to publish final versions of the forms to our website by October 11, 2024.
We apologize for the inconvenience and any confusion this may cause. This project remains a priority for Revenue, and we plan to revisit it in the future. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
