Twenty-three years ago, Urgent Action Fund pioneered one of the world’s first-ever rapid response funds. Three revolutionary women, our founding mothers, started with a simple but audacious idea: rapid, flexible grants that respond to the urgent and tactical needs of women's human rights defenders.

So, this Mother’s Day, we are remembering our founding mothers and asking you to make a gift to honor the mothers in your lives.

We continue to respond where there is an urgent need. That is why we recently launched the COVID Crisis Fund for Feminist Activists. Even in normal times women and trans activists are often operating in unpredictable, high-risk environments; but this global pandemic has put them at even greater risk.

Your donations allow UAF to support women and trans activists during these turbulent times. With the funds raised through the COVID Crisis Fund for Feminist Activists, UAF has supported groups like the Re+Birth Equity Alliance, who are organizing tele-mental health clinics.
These virtual spaces provide mental health support, including music therapy for children, for women, and other marginalized community members. They are continuing to find innovative ways to stand in solidarity with their communities while following physical distancing recommendations, including hosting a gathering on April 11th to coincide with Black Maternal Health Week.
