Team,

The Supreme Court began a new term this week. They will hear cases on guns, LGBTQ+ rights, and policing. Perhaps most concerning, the justices may very well be called on to decide election-related questions.

The Court That Dark Money Built has proven time and again that it prioritizes aggregating power for itself and the special interests backing it over looking out for the American people and deciding cases based on facts and precedents.

The Court's complete ethical system failure was on full display last term. Justice Alito flew flags of allegiance to the insurrectionists’ cause and then refused to recuse himself from cases related to January 6th. The Court ruled, without legal basis, that former President Trump has immunity from prosecution for “official” acts – elevating the presidency beyond the reach of law. Justices Thomas and Alito did not update their required financial disclosures to reflect the extravagant billionaire-funded trips that had come out in the press, and they continued to hand down decisions to please the billionaire class.

But here’s the good news: there is a big election next month. An election where if we can successfully expand our majority in the Senate and elect a President Harris, we can get my Supreme Court ethics bill over the finish line. We can put a binding ethics code in place like the ones that ALL other federal judges and officials are subject to.

So I’m asking: can you chip in today to support my re-election campaign so I can create a system of accountability at the Supreme Court that Americans can trust? [link removed]

Thank you,

Sheldon Whitehouse
