Dear John, Fear and anger are great fundraisers. People will pay to avoid something they’re afraid of, or to oppose something that makes them angry, so professional fundraisers will tell you to get your donors into a frenzy before you hit them with an ask. But that’s just not who we are. There is no shortage of scary and upsetting stuff happening in the world around us right now, but the last thing we want to do is try to stoke your fears, make you angrier, or manipulate you in any way. Rather, we want to point you over and over again to the source of our HOPE.
The Lord reigns! Jesus sits at the right hand of God the Father, ruling and reigning over the earth. Our hope is as certain as the tomb is empty, so we don’t need to be angry or afraid. In fact, we shouldn’t be afraid or angry like the world. We are called to have faith and to be faithful – in such a time (and place) as this.
For me and my co-laborers with Minnesota Family Council and Institute, Church Ambassador Network and True North Legal, that means being steadfast in times of trial, bold in times of persecution and full of a lasting joy that defies temporary circumstances. If you have faith in Jesus, he has called you to that too.
So we’re asking for your help not because we’re angry or afraid of what might happen, but because we have hope for Minnesota in Christ Jesus – and we know you share that hope. Will you commit $25, $50, or $100, or even more as the Lord leads, to win Minnesota with us?

Right now, I think God is calling MFC to be messengers of hope, even while we work hard to win in November and beyond. Everything I told you about the urgency of getting out the vote last month is still true, even though it might have gotten more difficult since then. But rather than tell you more about strategy and plans, I think it’s more important to share this message of hope.
So today, instead of asking you to fund merely another “get out the vote” message, I want to invite you to fund a “get out the hope” message. We care about both, but “get out the hope” endures. It goes beyond November 5th and through the 2025 session, into a future that may be uncertain to us, but is secure in God’s hands.
Those of us who trust in the Lord have to be careful not to live like practical anarchists, who talk, act, think and fret like people who don’t believe in the sovereignty of God — that he reigns and rules right now.
Reminders of that reign and rule are all over scripture, especially in Psalms and Revelation. This is especially true in Psalms 93-99. In fact, three of those Psalms (93, 97 and 99) start with “The Lord reigns.” This declaration is often accompanied by a corollary truth, a call to respond … or both.
Please consider supporting the combined ministries of Minnesota Family Council to help us get out that message (knowing that your gift is also doing all the things we talked about last month). Your gift of $25, $50, $100 or even more, as the Lord leads, will help us amplify this message at a time when it is needed most. $25, $50, $100 or even more, as the Lord leads, will help us amplify this message at a time when it is needed most.

Here are just a few examples of God’s rule and reign described in Scripture: -
Psalm 93:5 “Your decrees are very trustworthy.” We can trust in God’s rule and the guardrails he’s given to us. They are there for a reason and sharing that reason with a world that increasingly wants to remove them is why we exist as a Christ-centered public policy and advocacy group.
-
Psalm 95 – “Make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation” (vs 1) and “the Lord is a great God, and great King above all gods” (vs 3). Our response to God’s reign should be joy, because of who he is.
-
Psalm 96:3 (“Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all peoples!”) and Psalm 97:1 (“The Lord reigns, let the earth rejoice; let the many coastlands be glad!”) remind us that we should be testifying to his goodness and trustworthiness to those around us, that they might put their hope in him – and find their joy in him – just as we have.
-
Psalm 99:1 – “The Lord reigns, let the people tremble. He sits enthroned upon the cherubim; let the earthquake.” There is a place for fear in the Bible, but it is a holy fear of the Lord, not of other humans, election outcomes or bad legislation.
Skipping ahead to Psalm 111:10a, we see that “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, all those who practice it have a good understanding.” The right kind of fear is an awe of our great God, a healthy respect for who he is and who we are by comparison. Remembering that, and living accordingly, is the path to wisdom. That’s the path we want to be on, and we want you to be on too! I encourage you to read the above Psalms often when you find yourself feeling discouraged or weary. Remember who you are, and whose you are, and that you are alive here and now for a purpose.
Here at MFC, MFI, Church Ambassador Network and True North Legal we believe that our purpose is to bring light to the halls of government in Saint Paul, and, broadly, to the culture throughout Minnesota. We would be delighted to have you join us in that mission. Supporting us financially with a gift of $25, $50, $100 or even more, as the Lord leads, is a great way to do that.

Your support right now will help tremendously as we continue to work strategically in key Minnesota House and Senate districts, with God’s help, to win a pro-life, pro-family majority in one or both chambers. Your contributions will help fund our get-out-the-vote efforts, while also amplifying the “get out the hope” message that I’ve shared with you today. Our hope in the Lord drives everything we do, whether that’s educating absentee voters, running ads in target districts, building strong, long-lasting partnerships with like-minded organizations working in Minnesota, or being a resource on all things Minnesota and Tim Walz to major national voices like Fox News, Alliance Defending Freedom or Albert Mohler. Thank you for standing with us in these trying times. Keep the faith and hold on to hope! |
