Hi–

I joined Moms Demand Action in 2022 after the devastating mass shooting at
Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.

As a Mexican-American originally from San Antonio—and as a mom—this
disaster struck close to home. In the aftermath, I wanted to be part of
the movement to create a future free from gun violence—especially to
prevent further tragedy in Latinx and Hispanic communities.

During Latinx Heritage Month, our movement has been hard at work to elect
leaders who will represent our voices and work to end this deadly crisis.

future free from gun violence.

I'm heartbroken every time I see Hispanic youth in Texas at the center of
gun violence. The basic needs in some of our communities are so vast—and
when the upstream problems that contribute to gun violence are ignored,
our young people pay the price.

Texas has a long history of intentional disinvestment in our communities,
especially through ongoing voter suppression efforts. Hispanics are now
the largest ethnic group in Texas—but our representation across all levels
of government doesn't reflect that.

That's why we're organizing across the country to elect candidates who
actually represent us and will put our lives first. [ [link removed] ]Join our movement
on October 19-20 by attending a Weekend of Action event near you.

We won't allow our leaders to continue to ignore our voices.

Every candidate on the ballot has to earn your sacred vote. Demand answers
from them on what matters to you, and cast your ballot accordingly.

But don't just do this for yourself. Turn around and look at the next
generation of voters. Talk to them about why voting is important. Share
the resources they may need. Take them with you when you vote.

Someone before you worked very hard to make sure you had access to all the
privileges of citizenship.

It's your turn to help someone else now.
