Friday marks the final day of Teacher Appreciation Week, and I would be remiss not to thank our hardworking teachers for their work every day—but especially now as they decipher how to teach CD3’s kids from a distance, all while juggling their own lives and children.

This administration has continually attacked public education. Scott Tipton has not stood up for the teachers and students of CD3. He has stood with the administration.

It’s no secret that Trump-appointed Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos has been disastrous for our education system. Most recently, the Trump/DeVos budget proposal for fiscal year 2021 would slash education funding by $6.1 billion—8.4 percent—compared to the amount Congress provided this year. These cuts hit our already struggling schools especially hard.

To the teachers of Colorado’s Third District: This campaign is for you. In Congress, I will fight for you to receive the funding, salary, and support you need to continue doing your jobs to the best of your ability. You are heroes for our community!
