Medicaid’s Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment (EPSDT) provision ensures that eligible children can get a range of health services they need — well-child visits, mental health services, dental, vision, and more. Last week, the Biden Administration issued updated guidance to states on EPSDT, a longstanding priority for children’s health advocates. The guidance requires states and managed care organizations to both: provide language access when educating families about EPSDT’s many services; and inform families about the availability of language assistance services when they seek care. Congratulations to PIF partners who advocated for this important policy.
