"With so many unknowns in our political environment, Sylvia’s steady, focused leadership will provide the internal stability needed to navigate a rapidly changing landscape in which authoritarian, anti-democratic forces have already gained far too much ground," said Linda Burnham, renowned activist and writer and PRA board member. "I look forward to her partnership in stewarding such a vital organization in its next period of growth and development."
Under Sylvia’s leadership, PRA is about to embark on an extensive rebrand, continue the momentum of our five-year strategic plan, prepare for a new presidential administration, and fortify our social justice movement to identify, disrupt, and compete with movements and institutions that undermine democracy, justice, and human rights.
“PRA’s work to shine a light on rising authoritarianism and threats to democracy could not be more critical in this moment where civil rights are being eroded nationwide,” said Sylvia Broude, incoming Executive Director of PRA. “I am so excited to learn from my new team and to join in their work to strengthen and inform resistance efforts here and across the country.”
Tarso Luís Ramos will conclude his 18-year tenure at PRA at the end of 2024 and Sylvia Broude will take on the role of Executive Director full time in early 2025.
Our incoming and outgoing leaders are collaborating on orientation projects this month and we look forward to the opportunity to introduce you to Sylvia soon or in the new year.
