Hi John,
As we approach the 38th anniversary of the Anti-Drug Abuse Act this October, it's essential to recognize that many are still enduring the consequences of this legislation and the destructive legacy it’s left behind.
That's why we are excited to invite you to join us virtually on Thursday, October 17th from 3:00 - 4:00 PM PT / 6:00 - 7:00 PM ET for our Public Health is Public Safety campaign call. This month, we’ll be featuring policy experts to discuss the need for compassionate drug policy at both the federal and state level and how past harmful laws are still impacting our communities today.
Why This Matters:
We’ll focus on the ongoing racial disparities in drug laws and sentencing, and ask: Is history repeating itself? We’ll spotlight the EQUAL Act, which seeks to eliminate the sentencing disparity between crack and powder cocaine offenses. Our conversation will address these injustices and promote a more humane and equitable approach to public health and safety.
Be Part of the Change:
Your voice is crucial in this discussion. Together, we’ll create space for open dialogue on these complex issues, and strategize on how we can push for policies that center public health, racial equity, and compassion.
