Dear John,

Today, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) program faces the courts again as oral arguments start in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans, the second time this court will rule on DACA.

Since its implementation in 2012, DACA has been a success, allowing over 800,000 undocumented young people to support themselves and build lives here without fear of deportation— but it was always a temporary solution. As the program continues to be targeted nonstop by anti-immigrant forces, DACA recipients face the very real prospect of being torn away from their families, communities and their livelihoods.

The Fifth Circuit Court erroneously ruled DACA unconstitutional two years ago; any decision they make will most likely get appealed in a conservative-majority Supreme Court. It is imperative Congress and President Biden take action and pass a pathway to citizenship NOW!

Ending DACA would be catastrophic, not only for our communities and families, but also for the U.S. economy, which would suffer billions of dollars in loss of business revenue, investments, loss of jobs, and more ([link removed]) .

As the son of immigrants who came to New York in search of a better life, I know DACA recipients and their families are American in every way and deserve an opportunity to access a path to citizenship and stability. Their status in our country must be fully secured, once and for all.

In power,
