John, I’m a gun
safety activist and co-chair of the Board at March For Our Lives. In just
25 days I will be running the New York City Marathon on the inaugural
“Team March For Our Lives” to raise awareness and critical funds to end
gun violence.

I’m feeling a LOT of things. Everything from excited to nervous. This is
my first time running a marathon and it’s even more special because I was
chosen to be a part of Team Inspire.

So, what’s Team Inspire? It’s a group of 26 runners who are putting
purpose behind our miles and sharing our stories with the entire world.
I’m honored to be counted among them and to be representing March For Our
Lives.

My journey to running the New York City Marathon has been a long one, and
it hasn’t always been easy.

In 2005, my cousin Vincent Avant was shot and killed while just sitting in
a car a few blocks from his home. In 2006, my brother Terrell Bosley was
shot and killed while at church for band rehearsal in Chicago.

This was one of the hardest times of my life and I was overtaken by
sadness and anger. I didn’t know what to do with those feelings until I
connected with B.R.A.V.E. (Bold Resistance Against Violence Everywhere), a
group full of youth similar to me who were tired of Chicago’s gun violence
and ready for a change.

Since joining the group, I’ve led protests, rallies, petitions, and voting
campaigns; mentored youth; and spoken about gun safety with dozens of
elected officials and celebrities. I even spoke at the first March For Our
Lives in 2018.

And now, I’m running 26.2 miles through all five boroughs of NYC to fuel
our efforts to achieve a world without gun violence.

As I continue to train for the biggest race of my running career yet, it
would mean the world if I could see March For Our Lives reach our goal of
raising $25,000 before race day.

Your Personal Invite To the Movement Fund 💌💙

At March For Our Lives, we call our monthly supporter program The
Movement Fund.

Why are monthly recurring donors so important? The amount of one-time
individual donations we receive as an organization varies vastly from
month to month.

Without a steady stream of monthly donations coming in our door, it
would be impossible to accurately plan our budgets, create long-term
strategies to win a future free from gun violence, plan and execute
on-the-ground organizing efforts, recruit and train more gun safety
champions, and more.

[ [link removed] ]One of the best ways that you can help sustain our movement is by
becoming a recurring monthly donor. Can you sign up today?
