The Baytown Mexican School was awarded an Undertold Marker in 2014
For over a decade, the Texas Historical Commission has selected up to 15 special topics yearly to receive a free historical marker through the Undertold Marker program. Undertold markers address historical gaps, promote diversity of topics, and proactively document significant underrepresented subjects or untold stories.
The submission period is now open until November 15! View the application here. Applications can be submitted through the new official Marker Portal. Sponsors of selected topics will be contacted following the THC’s quarterly meeting in January.
Fall back in time to the frontier! Join San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site on October 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the Fall Fandango, a free event celebrating the vibrant spirit of the 1830s. This family-friendly festival is held outside the San Jacinto Monument in La Porte and will feature living history activities, authentic saloon games, delicious historical recipes, and much more!
Don’t miss out on special experiences like the Chili Queens’ Culinary Journey and the exciting Will Howard Gaming Hall. Bring your family and friends for a day of fun, food, and fascinating history!
