Dear friend,
Today, I reach out to share the urgent situation unfolding at The Elephant Nature Park in Thailand, which has been ravaged by catastrophic floodwaters.
The elephants at this renowned sanctuary—which the Center for a Humane Economy has actively supported for years—need our help.
Unprecedented flooding has swept through the region, putting elephants in deep water with no access to food. Two elephants—one elderly and blind—have already lost their lives, along with approximately 40 water buffalos and numerous pigs, cats, and dogs. The community of animals that call this sanctuary home is in dire need of support.
More broadly, the flooding has put wild populations of endangered elephants at risk, too. Add the risk of drowning to threats of poaching and the inexorable march of humanity threatening their homes.
Both the captive and previously rescued elephants and the wild elephants need our help. These extraordinary creatures need our support at this life-threatening moment.
Rising waters destroy or cover up food supplies and pose immediate health risks, with stagnant water spreading disease. Your generous contributions will go directly towards essential relief efforts, including providing food, veterinary care, and critical emergency management.
Please visit our Elephants in Crisis page to view photos and learn more, and then please go here to donate. Every dollar will indeed make a difference.
Sincerely,
