Today, big cats are suffering in tiny cages. But you can change that.
Dear John,
Here at Born Free, we’re so inspired by loyal supporters like you, who want to create lasting change. We know you care deeply about ending exploitation. But we still have a long way to go – please stand up for big cats and help us end the suffering of big cats in zoos by sending a gift today.
DONATE NOW
It breaks our hearts but, in the UK and Europe, 3,000 big cats languish in zoos:
▫️ Lions, tigers, leopards and more, caged up and miserable
▫️ Large, intelligent, sensitive creatures, locked up for life
▫️ Reduced to living exhibits to ‘entertain’ misguided zoo visitors.
But we say: no more. Can you help us?
Born Free is challenging the zoo industry to phase-out big cat captivity, starting here in the UK. Sounds impossible? Thanks to us, the UK no longer has captive dolphins or wild animals in circuses. But now, big cats need our help. And we can’t do it without you. We desperately need funding to continue our fight. If you love big cats as we do, donate today to turn your compassion into action.
GIVE A GIFT TODAY
We don’t need to tell you big cats don’t belong in zoos. Of all species, these far-ranging apex predators represent all that is wild and free. No wonder they repeatedly pace in cages – stressed and unhappy. But, this lack of space is just for starters.
Big cats in zoos:
1. Are kept in unnatural groups, and some species are socially deprived
2. Can become inbred due to lack of genetic diversity
3. Do nothing for conservation – big cats bred in zoos, will live and die in zoos
4. Healthy cats are killed due to overcrowding and shocking, accidental deaths.
Big cats in zoos are killed?
Yes. In recent years, in UK zoos:
⚪ A male lion, introduced to two females for breeding, killed them both
⚪ A female tiger was killed by her potential mate, during their first meeting
⚪ Just a week later, a female tiger was killed in a fight with two other tigers
⚪ Dozens of sickly lion cubs died prematurely, due to decades of inbreeding
⚪ Seven ‘surplus’ lion cubs, just five days old, were killed ‘to make space’
Are you repulsed? So are we. But, together, we can stop the suffering. Your gift today will help us fight for a Roar-Free UK and end the exploitation of these magnificent animals.
DONATE TODAY
Your kindness will help Born Free stand up for big cats. We guarantee every pound you send will help transform lives and create a better world, where wild animals are cherished, not exploited for outdated ‘entertainment’.
Please, donate today.
